Brain, Paranasal Sinus Scan Done. Results Shows Mastoid Air Cells Scelerosis, Turbinate Hypertrophy With Deviated Nasal Septum. Treatment?

Recently, i had got paranasal sinus scan along with brain scan. The scan results shows mastoid air cells scelerosis and turbinate hypertrophy associated with deviated nasal septum. From these impression, i just wanted to know what would be the future course of treatment for these conditions and is it mandatory to avail medical treatment. Kindly advise?

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your radio logical report (C.T.Scan for paranasal sinuses and brain), but I am sorry to give you better suggestion because you have not mentioned about your symptoms and findings of your treating doctor.

As per your report of C.T.Scan basically you are having Deviated nasal septum and because of this deviation there had developed hypertrophy of turbinate of opposite side. These two factors are responsible for recurrent throat infection and from throat infection had reached to middle ear via eustachian tube, therefore there ultimately chronic mastoiditis had satelled. this is radio logically mentioned as sclerosis of mastoid.

As far as treatment is concerned, it is surgical and first of all septal deviation should be corrected by septoplasty and turbinate should also be reduce in the same sitting. After that wait for recovery in ear and after about 6 weeks ear should be re examined and investigated radio logically and audio logically to plan for re-constructive work.

I think your query is answered.

Regards.
