Black And Blue, Swollen, Warm Bruising On Left Knee, Possible Ligament Damage In Right Knee Due To Blunt Trauma. Advised RICE Method. Serious?

Hello Doctors,

I took blunt trauma on both of my knees 3 days ago, know my left knee has black and blue bruising with swelling and warmth over the bruising , also my right knee might have some ligament damage. I have seen a doctor who said use the R.i.c.e. method. And see him back in 6 days. My question is , should I be concern with the warm to touch over the bruising areas??

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The bruising on the knee and swelling can be due to a soft tissue swelling or due to a knee joint effusion. Using RICE formula will help but if there is pain on weight bearing then consulting an orthopedician is recommended.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
