External pressure on the upper neck / throat can induce inflammatory response resulting in soreness, pain while swallowing and sometime speaking difficulty.
As per your description, I do not foresee a serious concern. The inflammatory response could be limited to the structures of pharynx. This should settle down in 2-3 days. If the soreness is a bit higher behind the tongue gargling with dispersible asprin can get you instant relief. Else you can try anti-inflammatory drugs like Motrin
twice a day for a day or two for faster recovery.
Rest your voice as much as possible. Avoid hard and spicy diet. Soft diet
and gulping small meals can be beneficial.
