BP, Have Irregular Heart Beats, Normal EKG. Had Taken Chinese Herbs To Lower BP. Would Chinese Herbs And Low BP Cause Irregular Beats?

have irregular heart beats and just came from the dr s office and he performed an ekg which came back negative. While at the dr s office no irregular beats were noticed but after the visit a few appeared again. I was not on enough b.p. meds so he increased and changed from an ace to arb. I was also taking chinese herbs for 3 weeks to help lower the b.p. and that s when all this started so i stopped 3 days ago with the chinese herbs. Can the herbs mixed with the b.p. meds cause these irregular heart beats?

Hello Jtrosset and thanks for writing in at HCM
I am a jr. to Cardiologist in India and read your mail in detail. I don't think that any herb can cause irregular Heart beats (unless proved and we know which herb are you taking). The irregular beats is caused due to the defect in the conduction system of the heart. The causes may be Atrial Fibrillation(AF), Ectopy which are present in between normal heart beats etc.
We cant get to the diagnosis with the detail you have given. Related history should be known like whether you have fast or slow Heart rate, Have you fallen due to vertigo due of such type of beats, have you feels palpitation during irregular beats?
It may be possible that your EKG comes normal because it is noted for a fraction of time, at that time you Heart beat may be normal or irregular. This time you have normal. So for complete study of your Heart rate go for Holter or EPS study which records 24 hrs Heart beats in EKG pattern.
Consult your cardiologist and do Holter study. Depending on the report of the study performed your cardiologist is able to take decision whether your irregular beats can be converted into regular sinus rhythm by medication or you needs PPI (Pacemaker Implantation).
Best Wishes
