Ascus Pap 3 Years Back. Present Result Show Cervix Normal. Should I Be Concerned?

I have had ASCUS pap results since May of 2010, my last being March 2013. I was referred for a Colposcopy which took place in April 2013. During the exam, the doctor stated that "this is not what I was expecting to see. Not good." She also took 3 biopsies. I met with the doctor on May 8th to discuss the results and the pap came back ASCUS but the biopsies showed CIN3 with glandular involvement. They were wanting to schedule for a cone biopsy and then potentially a hysterectomy based on the results. However, I chose to have a second opinion. I just had another colposcopy done on May 22nd by a Gynecological Oncologist and based on what they saw, my cervix looks completely normal. They did do an endocervical curettage at the same time and I am still waiting for those results. My question is how can results be so different between 2 colposcopies that were only 5 weeks apart? Should I be concerned with my treatments so far?

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The two results should not show such a gross difference. The results of endocervical biopsy will help in confirmation. A cone biopsy is also recommended if the results are normal.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
