Are Femilon And Folic Acid Prescribed To Treat Multiple Cysts In Ovaries?

iam 25 year married women. my periods is irregular and continuous bleeding previous month . i have no childrens.my docter diagonosed as a multiple cyst in ovary and d&c done (normal reports). periods came in that month .docter prescribed tab femilon and folic acid . 21 days femilon tablets are over yesterday. these medicines are good for me?

Dear member,
Thanks for writing.
The condition you are having is called polycystic ovarian syndrome where ovarian multiple cysts are present due to hormonal imbalance.
The femilon is a contraception pill but in your case it also helps in suppression of ovaries and regulation of menstrual cycles.
The medication has to be taken for atleast 3 cycles to be effective.
Folic acid is to help conceiving later.
