Are Delayed Periods Indicative Of Pregnancy?

I had unprotected sex on June 30th around 3am but he pulled out before he ejaculated, I am still worried about pre-cum so I took next choice one dose and around 8pm, it is now July 2nd and nothing has happened, my period is supposed to start on the 7th, what is going on, and what is most likely to happen?

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Even if you used the withdrawal method while having intercourse, even then pre cum does carry some sperms.
WHen taken within 120 hours of unprotected intercourse, the emergency contraceptive pill ( ECP ) offers more than 80 % protection against pregnancy.
When taken within 24 hours, it has more than 95 % protection against pregnancy.
Also the ECP has one notorious side effect, it messes up the normal menstrual cycle.
It can prepone or postpone your normal cycle by a week or more, upto 10 days sometimes.
SO most likely, the menstrual delay is due to the ECP that has been taken.
Also, stress, anxiety, weight gain etc . can also cause absence of periods.
Thyroid hormone dysfunction, PCOS etc are other causes.
To be reasonably sure, just take a pregnancy test 3 weeks after the episode of unprotected sex.
All the best.
Take care.
