Any Side Effect Of Azithral 500 If Taken In Pregnancy?

I have just finished 3rd month of pregnancy. Now, after urine test, doctor said their is infection in urine. He prescribed azithral 500 one tablet a day for 3 days. Along with calcuim & Iron tablets. Why Azithral 500 is used to prescribed in pregnancy & what may be its side effects.

Azithral 500 mg contains azithromycin which belongs to the group of medications known as macrolides antibiotics is used to treat various types of bacterial infections of the urinary tract, respiratory tract, ear, nose, throat, lungs, skin and eyes in adults and children. It is also effective in typhoid fever and some sexually transmitted diseases. Azithromycin like Azithral tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy.

Side effects of Azithral are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation, painful urination, stomach upset, indigestion, flatulence, excessive air in stomach, heartburn, sore throat, dry or scaly skin, dizziness, drowsiness, difficulty in swallowing, altered taste sensation, tiredness, headache, nervousness, changes in sleep pattern, itching, ringing in the ears, decreased sense of smell, rashes, vaginal itching or discharge, allergic reactions etc. If these side effects persist for long or bother you, then you should consult your doctor promptly for medical help.
