Abdominal Pain And Bleeding, Ectopic Pregnancy, Miscarriage. Had Injection Of Methotrexate. Done BHcg Test, Risen Levels. Normal?

Exactly a week ago I had an injection of methotrexate to terminate a suspected ectopic pregnancy (on rhs ovary) with follow ups of blood tests for 7 days. On the 4th day I had a blood test to which I was advised my bHcg (pregnancy hormone) levels had risen by 200, however my last test is due tomorrow. I am still bleeding slightly, and have mild pain in my right side. Is it normal to experience this? I'm concerned as it's my second miscarriage (so to speak)

Hello,
I am very sorry for what has happened, my sympathies are with you. It is natural to see some spotting for up to two weeks following an abortion. The beta-hCG levels should fall steadily over 2-3 weeks; any rise should be viewed with caution as it may happen with a continuing pregnancy or a molar change. A sonogram, preferably trans-vaginal, should be taken to see the status of your pregnancy. You need a thorough assessment for the prior abortion as it may have lead to this ectopic pregnancy. Hope your query has been answered. Wish you good health.
