9 Year Son, Vomiting, Cold, Runny Nose, Ringing Ears. Taking Tylenol. Recommendations?

A week ago my son (9) had some vomiting after school. Today he seemed to have a very bad cold with a very runny nose and constant non-productive cough that seems all upper respiratory and runs clear. He says his ears are ringing, and I just gave him Tylenol because he feels warm. I am trying to decide if he needs urgent care tonight or if we can wait til morning. Are ringing ears a red flag? (He also has high functioning autism so his pragmatic language makes it a challenge at times.)

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Your child seems having an episode of upper respiratory illness.

The ringing in his ears may be due to improper communication because of autism.

There are chances of block of the tube, which connects throat and middle ear, due to which he might be having some discomfort in his ear.

For fever you can continue Tylenol in prescribed dose.

You can consult the pediatrician tomorrow as there are no danger signs and symptoms at present, for the examination and for the treatment.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
