8 Year Old With Yellowish Vaginal Discharge. Sexually Abused?
Hi doc! I have a case in which a girl of 8 yrs was diagnosed with a yellowish discharge with a very bad odor. The nurse suspected sexual abuse, the doc during the examination found that the hymen is absent but there was no tearing, bruises nor scars. The nurse confirmed that the child of that age cannot have a yellowish discharge unless she has had sexual encounter. Should we be worried?

Abuse is likely and needs legal and medical specialist evaluation. A talk with child may clarify matters regarding any self inflicted injury, foreign body insetion or otherwise.
Inform police too . Vaginal gapes can be at times normal if small... without an object inside infections with this purulrnt discharge unlikely.
