Constant Vaginal Discharge, Itching After Getting Intimate. Possible Cause?

After being intimate with my husband I have had itching and constant vaginal discharge and at times gushing vaginal discharge... no offensive smell but it is pale yellow and creamy. I am absolutely disgusted. What is wrong with me!? It has now been 11 days the itching has stopped quite a bit but the gushing vaginal discharge has continued.

Hello, thanks for using HCM.
It is like that you have an infection that is causing you the discharge. Vaginal discharges and itching are common genital tract infection symptoms and could be associated with fever in the case where the infection is deeper.
It is not only through intimacy that you can pick up infections, poor hygiene, use of antibiotic vaginal tablets, use of hormonal contraceptive etc. Itching is commonly caused by Yeast ( which is not thought to be sexually transmissible) or by trichomoniasis ( which is sexually transmissible) infection. Both can be associated with vaginal discharges.
However, a detail evaluation is needed and at least a vaginal smear test done from which an appropriate treatment will be given.
Best regards and hope this helps.

Hello,

Constant creamy vaginal discharge with itching is mostly suggestive of yeast infection or STDs . One vaginal swab test & blood test for STD profile are needed to confirm the diagnosis.

Here, you need to consult with your gynecologist for proper guidance through investigation & medication. Maintain genital hygiene properly. Anti microbial drug therapy with vaginal suppository is very much helpful to eliminate this type of problem. In such cases, your partner should be treated properly to avoid reinfection.

Be well & take care yourself.

Hi,

Welcome to HCM

Itchy, yellow vaginal discharge is due to trichomoniasis infection. It is generally transmitted by sexual intercourse. Neglect may lead to offensive smelly discharge eg. vaginosis, chlamydia, pelvic inflammatory disease or other STD.
1.Oral metronidazole is effective. You can use vaginal creams like clindamycin to get rid of itching and irritation.
2. Both the partners should get clinically examined and treated to stay healthy and fit.
3. Take vaginal swab tests, blood tests to rule out STD, avoid unprotected sex or use barrier methods till you are not fit.
4. Take care of your hygiene, wash genital area with warm water, keep the area dry, moisture will cause itching and proliferation of the infection.
5. Avoid scratching, wear cotton clothes.

Take care.
