54 Yrs. Closed Cervical Canal Causing Unsuccessful Pap Smear. History Of Removal Of Uterus. Any Issues If Cervix Removed Now?

i had my uterus removed some 10 years ago but my ovaries and cervix were left. My doctor thought at the time that leaving the cervix could help in later life to reduce bladder problems.
Now i have a cervical canal that has closed this a successful pap smear is not possible. I am 54 so need to continue them for some years still.
What are the complications of having my cervix removed now?
Many thanks

Hello ma'am and welcome.

Simple complications could include affecting sexual life, structural and support problems as rightfully mentioned by your doctor. But if you do not mind these and do not mind taking extra care to ensure all the precautions are taken, then please take this up with your doctor. Although no major indications for removal of your cervix are present.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
