5 Year Old, Chest Pain, Pulled Muscle, Pricking Sensation In Right Arm. Treatment Options?
My 5 year old has been complaining off chest pain occasionally ovet the last 8 weeks, we visited the gp who said it was possibly a pulled muscle , My daughter has also complained of pins and needles in her right arm twice but there was no chest pain when this happened, the chest pain can happen at anytime when playing and resting. It lasts onn and off for 2 to 3 hours. Thanks
It is not normal for a 5 year old to complain of recurrent chest pain that lasts for a few hours at a time. This definitely warrants some further invesigation with blood work, an ecg (maybe a 24hr monitor) and chest X-ray. There are many other questions that your Doctor will want to ask you about the pain and your child should have a thorough clinical examination.
If your daughter has only had pins and needles twice with no recurrence of the symptoms then it may not be anything to worry about but if the symptoms are recurring or are getting worse then she should be thoroughly examined and investigated by your family Dr and/or referred to a specialist.
