5 Month Old Having Low Hemoglobin. What Diet Should Be Given?

Yesterday I went with my 5 month old daughter to the doctor for a regular checkup. He saw everything and he told that everything is fine. growth and devlopment of the baby is good buut she has a little low hemoglobin . At home she is very very active and her activity is like a 6-7 month old baby. I just want to know how he knew about her low hemoglobin and how can I improve my diet for this?

Hi.
Thanks for your query,
Relax,do not worry, give exclusive breast feeding for 6 months of age.regarding your diet you must take balanced diet , green leafy vegetables, fresh fruit.nuts,
As your baby is active so it is very good.
I suggest you to get your daughter regularly checked by your pediatrician .ang if she will continue to have Hb on lower side your doctor may start iron supplementation.

Wishing your baby good health

Hi Jaya Shree,
Thank you for your query,
Low hemoglobin(anemia) can be detected by examining the lower eyelid conjunctiva, tongue, nailbeds and palmar creases. Usually they appear pink to red depending on the level of hemoglobin. If these parts look pale then it is called pallor is present and a sign of anemia or low hemoglobin.Below 6 months the source of iron for exclusively breastfed infants the source of iron is breast milk and improving mother stores for iron, hematinic vitamins like Vitamin B12, folic acid and vitamin c can indirectly increase supply of these to infants.
So you should take proper balanced diet containing vegetables, green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits and seasonal fruits and extra 500 kilocalaries while lactation period.
Iron drops preparation will be available for kids and your doctor will prescribe if it is neccessary.
Hope i have answered your query.
