2l Month Old Child, Teething Started, Diarrhea, Slimy Yellowish And Irregular Bowel Movements. Suggestions?
Hi, my daughter is 21 months and she has diarrhea. It's like slimy yellowish stool. It is strange because by tues and wednesday she poops more than 7x a day, and then by thursday it stopped. And by friday and saturday she poops again 7x and more and by sunday it stopped again. And now monday she poops again 5x now for 4hours. What should i do? I don't know if this is just because of her teeth, because she has starting her first molar teeth.
Hi Thanks for your query. Your baby is having diarrhea which is mostly viral in nature and settles in few days. At time of teething baby puts everything in mouth which leads to diarrhea. Most important is to maintain hydration.Give oral rehydration solution sip by sip after each loose stool, give coconut water, lemon water, curd, rice porridge, boiled potato, banana. Give lactobaccilus for 2 to 3 days and zinc for 14 days. Watch for features of dehydration like decreased urine output/lethargy/
In case symptoms persist get her evaluated by pediatrician for further management.
