Brief Answer:
Monitor sgpt and bilirubin regullarly. Take healthy diet

Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM). I apprecite your concern regarding your nephew.

One of the most common cause of an increase in sgpt > 1000 is acute viral hepatitis. Others are drug induced or ischaemic hepatitis, wilsonian crisis. I hope your doctor must have seen for all causes and finally have made diagnosis of acute viral hepatitis which is self resolving disease it it is related to Hepatitis A and E virus. And if it is Hepatitis B then there may be chance of sef resolution in 95%.

And fluctuation of jaundice can ocurr during the course, so there is nothing to worry especially when he is asymptomatic. But I will advise him to monitor his sgpt and bilirubin at regular intervals.

Among diet : Diet should be healthy and hygienic. It should be high caloric and high protein diet.

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
