What Is The Treatment For Pain Of Trigeminal Neuralgia?

Question: Dr, Tayal, thank you for checking up on me. Your advice to me several weeks ago was 100% right on. I would like to ask another question if I may. I have suffered trimengal nuralgia on the right side of my face for many years. In the last several months it has been happening on almost a daily basis. I did see a nurologist many years ago, but at that time I would only get attacks once in awhile and I did not want to go on medication. I had read on the internet that some people with this problem take B12 shots. I started taking liquid B12 every day and it has helped. Do you know of any other homopathic remedies I can try? Sometimes when I feel the pain coming on, I have put cold water on a wash cloth and sucked in into my nostrils. Funny but this also helps.

Brief Answer: Simple treatments described below. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for trusting us with your health concern again. The pain of trigeminal neuralgia is a severe one and can be controlled with some simple measures. Take 400 mg Magnesium a day, take B complex and some good multivitamin and minerals daily. Try to eat very live foods like greens, a good way to remember is to eat a rainbow! (a colorful diet). Putting ice or cold water on the face will help in numbing the nerves thus reducing the pain. Add a few comfrey root tincture drops on a cotton pad. Introduce the cotton pad in the ear that’s on the painful side of the face. You may feel an ease in pain after only 10 minutes of using the tincture. In a few days of daily use you’ll see the pain is gone for good. TENS or electroacupuncture therapy also helps in reducing such nerve pains. Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have. Wishing you good health.
