What Is The Treatment For Insect Bite In Children?
Question: Hi my granddaughter was bitten by something yesterday afternoon while sitting on the grass; the area is swollen and at a close look you can see three little bites which seem to be weeping .She was taken to a G.P today after coming down with a temperature .She was given antibiotics and told if she got any worse to take her to hospital.I saw her twenty minutes ago ,her temp was slowly going down the area of bite is still swollen and quite warm to touch and she said it is itchy.Should we leave this and see if the antibiotics work. The hardest thing is we live twenty five minutes from town.I would really like your advice and would you have any idea what might have bit her thank You XXXX
Brief Answer:
Antihistamine and steroid cream
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query,
Insect bites are usually self limiting.
Apply an antihistamine, steroid cream combination at the site of bite.
Antibiotics must continue.
Best is to observe for improvement as it is not known which insect has bitten her.
If possible upload a photograph of the bite site.
It will help me in giving a better way of approach.
Waiting for your response.
Thank you
