Question: my wife has been vomiting and diareaha for 2 days now and she has not eaten today or yesterday only today ,this morning she vomited black bile and still had diareaha she feels much better but very strong headache,she went to the fair and last time she ate was Sat. morning some food we bought at the fair .she drank lemon juice flavored water yesterday

Brief Answer: Most likely food related stomach infection Detailed Answer: Hi XXXX, Thanks for writing in to us. Your wife might be suffering from an acute stomach infection due to the intake of food you bought at the fair. Continuous diarrhea and vomiting may lead to severe dehydration which is a life threatening condition. This happens when there is loss of fluids from the body without proper fluid replacement. The headache can be due to the same reason. If she continues to be having diarrhea and vomiting then a visit to the ER is a must and she should be put on antibiotics. Vomiting of black bile can be due to acute gastritis. Please allow her to drink lots of fresh fruit juices and take little amounts of home cooked food which is not too spicy.
