What Does The Brain MRI Report Indicate?

Question: After went through for radiation for anaplastic oligoastrocytoma, we did MRI of the patient (my brother) In MR Findings are - "IMR of brain with contrast (Gd) reveals focal non-enhancing cystic area in left partietal area with peri-lesional edema with detailed left occipitial horn." And all others are normal.
And in last written "MRI of brain with contrast (Gd) suggests in a post operative status, suggest focal gliosis in left posterior parietal area."

So,My question is whats next and I also heard that a person who has "anaplastic oligoastrocytoma" is live maximum 1.5-2years.

So please suggest us whats the immediate next step.

I have noted the clinical details of your brother, and also seen his MRI report.

As per the MRI report, the tumor has been completely removed by operation, and the changes seen on the MRI is due to surgery. There is no part of tumor remaining as per the MRI report.

After surgery, radiation and chemotherapy (with temozolamide, etc) are the correct treatment, which are going on in his case.

He completed his radiation treatment consisting of 30 sittings (Before radiation he took temozolamide) and these prescription and reports are after that.

So my question is that as per current MRI whats patient condition now??
can we assume that his anaplastic oligoastrocytoma has gone???
or can we forget that "a person who has "anaplastic oligoastrocytoma" is live maximum 1.5-2years."??

Now, the tumor is not there.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back. Thank you for providing more information.

As per the current MRI brain report, there is no tumor (anaplastic oligoastrocytoma) seen on the MRI now.

However, we should remember that MRI can not pick up any tumor which is less than 1 mm in size. So, we need to repeat the MRI at 3-6 month intervals to see if the tumor recurs or not. Until such time, we can not declare that the tumor has gone.

Regarding the survival, it differs among people, and it depends on whether the tumor recurs or not. Those with recurrent tumors live for shorter duration.

Now he is taking temozolamide (300mg) as per Doctor's prescription. But the thing is, he cant eats or takes foods properly as he said all are tasteless and feel like vomiting. And he feels always sleepy.

Can you suggest some foods which will be very healthy for him in this condition and also protects to recuring tumor.

Can we suggest him to do some exercise??

There is no specific food for this condition. All foods are permitted. Protein rich foods such as fish, eggs and chicken are good for building muscles.

Exercises can be done based on his ability. Walking and muscle stretches can be safely done.
