default
Posted on Tue, 2 Feb 2016
Question: Hello,
A friend of mine had an MR scan with the suspicion that he has MS. I am uploading the MR images. Could you let us know if you see any symptoms of MS and, if possible, where you see them?
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Requires more investigations as advised to reach to a diagnosis

Detailed Answer:
Hello ,
I have gone through the images provided by you.
The lesions in spine are demyelinating and involving a long segment of cervical spine.
In many cases it can be due to multiple sclerosis or neuromyelitis optica(NMO). Other causes may be post infectious or vasculitis.
If CSF examination is normal for viral aetiology then investigation for MS(oligoclonal band) and aquaporin 4 antibodies in serum (for NMO).
Brain MRI images are also required with contrast enhancement.
Any history of visual involvement.
Any previous episodes of neurodeficit.
Provide other reports and images.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Do get back with further queries.

I sent my friend your last response as well; however, I have not heard back until now. If the question closes by the time I get additional reports from him, is there any way that I can find you or shall I just post a new question by also uploading the same MR images for the present question?

- Thank you very much for your detailed answer.
