Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Can you please tell me the date of your last menstrual period, also, the normal pattern of your cycles ?
From what you have described, it appears that you are having a proper period as per the date schedule, only that it is heavier and with cramping.
This could be a
miscarriage - a pregnancy test will easily tell you if that is the case.
Also, conditions such as stress, anxiety, weight gain, erratic sleep or eating habits, ingestion of blood thinners or hormonal medications, alcohol, smoking - all can cause a heavier period.
Polycystic ovarian disease,
endometrial hyperplasia , fibroids,
adenomyosis - all conditions can lead to heavy bleeding.
A complete evaluation by a gynaecologist ( internal exam - per vaginum and per speculum ) and a pelvic ultrasound scan is a must.
Also, estimation of hormones ( FSH, LH, TSH, Prolactin, OGTT , DHEAS, Free
Testosterone ) should be done.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.
