THE MEDICATION HELPED, BUT NOW I HAVE THE LIFELESS FEELING IN MY LEGS AN ARMS AND IT CHANGES FROM ARM TO ARM AND FEET ETC, ITS NOW MOSTLY IN MY LEFT ARM.. I HAVE PAIN ABOVE MY LEFT BREAST CLOSE TO MY ARMPIT, WHICH FEELS LIKE A MUSCLES, HURTS WHEN I MOVE MY ARMS OR BREATHE IN AT TIMES, I ALSO HAVE THE PAIN IN MY SHOULDER... i DID BLOOD WORK IN NOVEMBER.. CHECK MY KIDNEYS, LIVER, SUGAR LEVELS AND CHOLESTEROL, EVERYTHING THING WAS FINE, ONLY MY BLOOD WAS A LITTLE LOW IT WAS 11.5 AND I WAS TOLD IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT LEAST 12.. WHEN I TAKE THE OMPEREZOLE THE SYMPTOMS SEEM TO FADE AT TIMES, BUT I NEED TO KNOW WHY I HAVE THESE FEELINGS IN MY HANDS AND FEET, I JUST WANT TO FEEL NORMAL AGAIN AND I DONT WANT TO HAVE TO TAKE OMEPEREZOLE FOREVER... i AM 30 YEARS OLD 173 POUNDS, 5'6.

Hi my dear,

I understand your concerns.

1. When getting close to your period, your uterus is having contractions that are perceived as "need to be stretched and moved" in order to get relaxed.

2. Furthermore, GERD is being aggravated during the monthly cycle as per hormonal influence.

3. With regards to low hemoglobin, that is within the acceptable levels for a women who is having regular periods. Supplements containing folic acid, iron and vit.B complex are recommended to improve your hemoglobin count.

4. I am happy that all your blood tests resulted ok apart hemoglobin count, however, I did not notice any report regarding blood electrolytes or vit.D level? Sometimes, electrolytes imbalance can also be a possible cause.

5. Possible remedies include:
- healthy diet and lifestyle regimen to improve GERD symptoms
- continue taking Omeprazole until improvement. Sometimes, it is needed to double the dosage or to switch to another PPIs to get the desired effect. Although you will need to take it for longer, it does not mean that you have to take for life.
- try to control stress as it will aggravate all your symptoms
- try to take supplements that would optimize electrolyte balance if reports will show related deficiency

Hope it was of help! Your other queries are most welcomed!

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

1. With regards to supplements, multivitamins containing essential vitamins and minerals including Vit.D, magnesium, etc. can be as sample. While, others can be prescribed depending on the deficiency type.

2. The pain you are describing is due to GERD. Please take in mind that during GERD there is a part of stomach acid fluid turning back into esophagus and mouth. This acidic fluid will stimulate the receptors of the pain which is perceived located above your breast close to armpit and when moving.

3. It is great that you eat healthy and exercise as they will help you alot.

4. If the actual dose of omeprazole is not helping, can discuss with your GI specialist to increase dosage or switch to another PPIs.

5. Vit. D might be a cause for pain and fatigue, I want to determine if costo-vertebral issues are present too in case of vit.D deficiencies.

6. If nothing wrong will be found with electrolyte level, then, pain you feel and arthritis should be considered.

Hope it helped!

Hi back my dear,

So far, as per information you provided, and tests you did resulted ok, then, all you are experiencing is not that worrisome. I admit it is bothersome to stretch your legs and feel the pain, however, try the above mentioned steps and hopefully you will get improvement.

All the best and God bless!
