What Does Nausea, Sore Throat And Fever After Oral Intercourse Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 15 Apr 2015
Question: Hi there,
I recently was intimate with a girl. We didn't have sex (just dry humping), though I did give her oral - however she did have her underwear and pants on while I was doing it.
This lasted about 1 minute. I am not sure if any of her secretions soaked through her pants, although it is possible that they did and I made contact with them.
I have, 2 and a half days later got a soar throat, and a few hours later nausea and fever like symptoms. Is it possible to have contracted Gonorrhea ( I understand Gonorrhea can be contracted by oral sex, and lead to a throat infection)? Or is this more likely to be a virus?

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Gonorrhea is possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Neisseria gonorrhoeae has an incubation time of 2-7 days which means that having pharyngitis 2 days after coming into contact with a patient may indeed be attributed to it.

A culture of a throat specimen would clarify things, particularly if you do know that the girl had gonorrhea. The specimen should contain epithelial cells because Neisseria lives inside the cells.

Regarding your genitalia: minimal contact makes it more difficult for the disease to be transmitted but nobody can really 100% exclude it. If she was diseased then it's more likely that your throat culture would be positive. You have to be watchful to identify urinary symptoms like feeling burning pain while urinating and having purulent discharge coming out of the urethra.

I hope I've helped!

Thank you Doctor. So it is possible for the disease to transmit through clothes (in this case her pants and underwear) and to me?

Brief Answer:
Probably not

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Neisseria won't live for more than seconds to minutes outside the body, so transmission via contaminated objects is very unlikely, if possible. Of course I could not exclude it 100%.

I hope it's more clear now!

Kind Regards!
