Brief Answer:
Certain complications are associated with circumvallate placenta

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below

1. You have a placenta which is having a double back appearance and this is a circumvallate placenta.

2. This is a variation of the normal placenta and can cause complications during pregnancy and delivery. During pregnancy it causes bleeding through the vagina and sometimes the bleed can also stay hidden and this is called subchorionic hematoma. Rarely other complications might manifest including small birth weight baby, preterm premature rupture of membranes, olighydramnios and placental abruption

3. It is also mentioned that the placenta is low place, however the final position is known after 28 weeks are over. If placenta does not migrate to safe position then your doctor will discuss the matter with you.

In conclusion, the baby growth right now is normal but there is a mild problem with the placenta which is circumvallate as mentioned in the report. You should be alert during your pregnancy and follow up with your doctor so that any problem is solved early and your delivery is without any complication.

Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.

Brief Answer:
Please follow up with your doctor regularly

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Please get ultrasound scans done as recommended by your doctor and tell the person doing the scan that a circumvallate and low lying placenta was detected at 17 weeks. Get the amount of amniotic fluid assessed during every scan. Baby growth is to be monitored.

2. Keep close watch on any bleeding through the vagina that you might have. Do not participate in heavy physical activity.

3. At you are near delivery time please keep watch for baby movements inside and consult your doctor if you feel the baby is not moving actively. Be alert for any leakage of fluid in the 8 or 9 months of pregnancy.

Hope your query is answered.
