What Does My Thyroid Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Mar 2015
Question: Hi
I am a 40 yo female, I have been Dx with reactive Hypoglycemia a year ago and gained 100 pounds (lost 30 lbs since Nov). The other day I was doing my make up and saw that my outer eyebrows are gone for the most part. I called my Endo and she ordered a TSH and DHEAS level. I called today to get my reslts and the nurse told me the TSH was fine at 3.25 (DHEAS is not resulted yet). I recently read a research article stating that the AAE has chaned the lab value results and are .3 - 3.0? My question is should I be treated with a TSH level of 3.25 ?

Brief Answer:
This need not be treated

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through the question and understand your concerns.

The TSH of 3.25 is normal. The upper limit of 3 is taken for women planning for pregnancy. In others we will treat when TSH is more than 10 or when you have additional problems like high cholesterol, Goiter or positive antibodies when your TSH is more than 5.

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you.
