What Does My Biopsy Test Report Indicate?
Question: Hypoechoic complexnodule .7cm benign follicular nodule bethesda cat.II follicular cells w/uniform nuclei in background of thin colloid w/scattered macrophages
Is there a question? You are simply copying data from a pathology report of what sounds to be a biopsy of the thyroid gland. Im always tired. Muscles always hurt and depressed. Went to the Endo. To check my thryroid. All blood work normal except low vitamin D. Random ultra sound found hypoechoic complex nodule. Its still under a cm. nodule in a difficult place behine my mucsle near my juggler. They did the biospsy by doctor did say it was hard. How do i know the fna was a good sample? How accurate is the sample and is it just a waiting game to see if it gets bigge?r

This is what I understood from you case history. You had fatigue and weakness and went to an endocrinologist for the same. Your thyroid function test and other investigations were normal, however you were incidentally detected to have a thyroid nodule. A FNAC of the thyroid nodule showed Bethesda Category II on cytopathology. You want to know more about the nodule and what is the follow-up of the same.
At the outset, let me You have come to the right place ! I am personally very interested in thyroid nodule, and nowadays we see a lot of thyroid nodules in our OPD and hence have a lot of experience and interest in this area.
First and foremost, let me assure you that thyroid nodules are very common in general population, about 30% of the population has a thyroid nodule when on an ultrasound. Many of these nodules are benign (meaning noncancerous).
In your case an FNAC was done which showed Bathesda Category II lesion. Bathesda II means that you lesion is Benign (non-cancerous) which is good news . So cheer up !
From what you have posted about the ultrasound features of the nodule, at one place you have written it is 7 cm and other place you have written it is under a cm. I am not sure what is the right one, so I would request you to share the Ultrasound report with pictures so that I can have a good look at it. What we need to do next is to repeat your Ultrasound after 6 months. If the nodule is showing growth of 20% in 2 or more dimensions than we will have to repeat the FNAC. If it is benign again then we don't need to do anything just regular annual ultrasound. If there is no increase in size than we will leave it untouched and repeat an ultrasound after 18 months.
The samples and reporting are generally accurate so you don't need to worry about the accuracy of the present FNAC results. You are right, it is basically a waiting game. If you are not interested in waiting , you can go for surgery to remove the nodule right away but I would not recommend a surgery at present.

.7mm sorry. I dont have the ultrasound report with me. When the biospy was done the docter had a diffucult time because it was behind my muscle. How do i know a good samole was taken. Ultrasound findings stated hypoechic complex cyctic nodule

How do i know a good sample was taken ? Well for Ultrasound guided FNAC for a nodule this small it is less high unlikely that a WRONG sample was taken. There is no way of knowing for sure so you will just have to trust the person , but like I said, if you had come to me, I wouldn't have even asked for a FNAC for nodule this small.
