Question: hello,

I I recently had a holter done. it said at night my Bpm dropped to 41 and has 22 pauses throughout the 24 hour time period. I just wanted to make sure this was normal I am 25 years old.

Brief Answer:
Resting heart rate of 40 is not an issue esp at night, pause is a concern

Detailed Answer:
After going through the details provided by you I understand your concern, I will try to help you as much possible but before that I need to see the holter report properly.

I want to assure you that a resting heart rate of around 40 bpm is pretty ok during night as the metabolic demand of the body is low so the heart also functions slowly but the only concern is the pauses as I want to see the duration of the pauses and what type of pauses are they.

So kindly upload the reports from your dashboard. You can also send them at YYYY@YYYY and address it to my name Dr Bhanu Partap.

Kind Regards

Brief Answer:
Then it's nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

If all the pauses are less than 2 seconds in duration then it's not an issue. A pause of more than 3 seconds is a concern,

However I would like to advice you to get an Echocardiography done to make sure that there is no structural defect in your heart. If that comes out to be normal then it completes the evaluation.

Till the time you don't feel any symptoms like dizziness, sensation of syncope or any blackout you are fine. If you experience any of these then you need to consult your cardiologist personally and urgently.

I hope this information will answer your query. If you have any other doubts you can ask me back or else you can close the discussion and kindly rate the answer

I wish you good health

Brief Answer:
Good

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

If cardiac scan and echo came out to be normal then you can relax and stop worrying. The only precaution is if you smoke then stop it completely and if at any time you feel any kind of symptoms which I have mentioned earlier then you need to go to ER quickly and get one EKG done that time.

If you have any other doubts you can ask or else you can close the discussion and kindly rate the answer.

I wish you good health
Kind Regards
