What Does High SGPT During Pregnancy Indicate?

Question: Hi Doctor,
This query is for my wife. During 6 month of pregnancy (Aug-2013) she was detected with high SGPT?SGOT. We had a LFT test yesterday, below is the detailed report
AST(SGOT) 71.00 U/L
ALT(SGPT) 109.00 U/L
GGTP 153.00 U/L
ALP 141 U/L
Bilirubin total 1.01 mg/dL
Biluribin direct 0.22 mg/dL
Biluribin indirect 0.79 mg/dL

Also her current thyroid level is 0.095 iIU/mL, Please suggest the treatment/precaution.

Hi,

Thanks for your query.

You may have to get a better imaging study to know what is the problem with the liver. A CT scan with contrast will help in this regard.

Also, do ascertain whether the Viral Hepatitis is negative in both mother and child.

Consume bland diet with less fat and spice in it.
