What Does Heavy Bleeding With Thickened Endometrium Indicate?

Question: My name is XXXXXXX Aged about 43 years. I had my lmp on feb 26th 2014 after that in 13th May 2014 I had again. I am staying alone from my husband. So no possibility of pregnency. The first two days I got normal bleeding and from day three I had severe bleeding with sine hard particles in bleeding. On 7th day I went our local doctor and she suggested tarpic mf two tables in night and two in night alsin with meprate one tablet. After took tarpic mf on 7th day night two tablets Iit was totally stopped. But doctor suggested to take scan. On 8th day I took scan and it is mentioning "uterus is anteverted, normal in size measuring 8.3 x 4.7 x 4.7 cm and shows homogenous myometrial echoes. Tiny intra mural fibroid measuring 9 x 8 mm seen in the anterior myometrium. Tiny seedling sub serous fibroid seen in the posterior myometrium. Endometrium appears thickened, thickness measures 18 mm

After going through your history and scan report I conclude that your excess bleeding could be due to sub serosal fibroid or thickened endometrium or as a part of pre menapausal features .

I suggest you to concult your gynacologist and discuss regarding need for dilatation and curratage.

In pre menapausal stage there might be increased or irregular bleeding. Since you have got your period delayed that might have caused endometrium to increase in size.

Thk u so much for ur immediate response. Just would like to know can i postpone my treatment for another 4/ 5 months..

Also let me know what is the normal thickness size for sub serosal fibroid or thickened endometrium.

Normally there will be no fibroids in uterus. Normal thickness of endometrium depends on day on menstrual cycle. After period it will be 3 to 4 mm. Gradually increase to 8 to 9 mm during ovulation and then upto 12 to 14 mm and sheds off during next period.

Dilatation and curratage is opd procedure and it is suggested as even after period your endometrium thickness is still more . So I suggest you not to wait and consult a gynacologist as soon as possible.
