What Does A Lump In Armpit Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 11 Sep 2014
Question: I have what seems to be an allergic reaction to anti-persperant/deodorant under my left armpit. I stopped using the anti-persperant and the redness has gone away but, I have noticed a small lump in my armpit. Slightly red, and tender to the touch but not painful. Thoughts on what it is and how to eliminate it?

Brief Answer:
As below:

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. The lump in the armpit is most likely to be an inflamed lymph node.

2. An anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory medication, local antibacterial, anti-fungal and steroid combination along with avoiding that particular antiperspirant should settle the lump.

3. It is always better to get this area palpated by a specialist and an Ultrasound done if there is no response to the above treatment.

I hope that I have answered your queries. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
