Brief answer.....given below
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Cysty placenta means presence of a solitary or multiple cysts in the placenta. These cysts contain gelatinous substance are are either round or oval. They are isolated from placental circulation and their prevalence is 2-20% of all pregnancies. These are of two types...
1.. Within the placenta tissue
2... On the surface.
Most of the times these are benign in nature and don't cause any problem, however cysts more than 4.5 cm in size or if they are multiple and present near the insertion of umblical cord can cause intrauterine growth restriction.
These cysts have to be differentiated from placental tumors like CHORIOANGIOMA.
Placental cysts frequently occur in diabetics.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
