default
Posted on Sat, 11 Nov 2017
Question: Hello. Is there any logical explanation for a person coming down with an upper respiratory infection almost year exactly during the month of October? I can almost predict when I get it, though I don't know If it's allergy related or a sinus viral infection, etc. Dryness, overall malaise, and soreness at the back of my nose and throat, then Into my chest. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Change in weather makes us vulnerable to such viral infections

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. October is a period of season change. A sudden change in the weather makes us vulnerable to catching cold. It is this change in the weather that you can sense/feel and you know what would come next. Usually such infections are of viral origin but there is an allergic component associated. Cold temperatures depress our immunity and make us vulnerable to the viruses that are otherwise all around us.

Steam inhalation and some antiallergic like cetirizine should be of benefit.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
