Posted on Mon, 23 May 2016
Question: Why my heart beat is skipping a beat most of the time and it seems like a forceful push to beat and when i hold my vein i feel that heart has stop and started again. I did some heart tests 9 months back. Ecg always normal as all the time its not skipping the beat, in holter nothing special cams just some beats that very very abnormal , attached is the report. Echo was done that was also normal. I am hving this miss beats issue from last 3 years almost.

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I carefully reviewed your uploaded tests and I am glad to confirm that there is no any serious abnormalities in both ECG and cardiac ultrasound.

I would like to directly review your full Holter reports.

Meanwhile I would like to let you know that palpitations and premature beats besides certain cardiac causes, may be due to several extracardiac reasons such as:

- lung disease
- thyroid dysfunction
- blood electrolytes disorders
- anemia
- inflammation
- other metabolic causes.

Please let me know about other tests you have done.

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri

Opinion as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

I carefully reviewed all the uploaded medical data, and I’m glad to confirm you that nothing dangerous arises from those tests.

Your Holter monitoring reveals only 50 PVCs which have no clinical significance.

There are no complex supraventricular or ventricular arrhythmic events.

So, just relax and don’t worry about this issue!

I advise you to check the above mentioned lab tests (I wrote at the beginning of our thread), to make sure no any underlying health condition is present.

Meanwhile, I suggest you to modify your diet (more fluids content, fresh fruits, less spicy and fatty foods), have more physical activity and recreational outdoor sports to improve digestive transit and reduce excessive anxiety.

Wishing you all the best!

Feel free to ask me again in case of any further uncertainties.

Regards,

Dr. Iliri

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry about!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I could explain that pinching-like chest pain is not characteristic for any heart related issue.

It is generally of musculoskeletal origin.

So, you shouldn't worry too much about!

You just need to engage in more physical activity (walking, aerobics, cycling, swimming, etc. and avoid prolonged forced positions (such as sitting in front of a computer or TV, etc.).

Please, let me know in case you have any other uncertainties!

Regards,

Dr. Iliri
