Question: Hello I am still so worried about ovarian cancer ... I have had low back and pelvic pain on my right side plus nausea for several weeks ... I have had a transvaginal ultrasound 4 months ago and a ct scan 3 weeks ago which said adnexa unremarkable .. I was having very heavy periods my dr put me in 10 days of progesterone which I finished over 9 days ago and I did not get a period although my breasts are extremely sore so I keep thinking I'm going to get it ... I am 51 and my obgyn said he thinks I'm am just having periomenopause symptoms ... Do you think I need to persue any other tests for ovarian cancer or would it of showed up on ct scan even if it was a small tumor thank you for your help I am just so worried

Brief Answer:
Get your CA-125 protein level.

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am,
Thanks for trusting hcm about your health care.
I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.
As you are having normal adnexa in ultrasound and CT scan there is almost no chances of ovarian cancer.
But if you want than you can get your blood test for CA-125 marker,a protein detected in ovarian cancer.
Yes,your doctor opinion is right ,you are going in perimenopausal stage because it is usually age for perimenopause and menopause.
Hope found useful, feel free to discuss more information.
Good luck.

Even though that test can have incorrect results ? With my symptoms would it be assumed that something would be seen on a cruise scan thank you

Brief Answer:
Chances are less likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am,
Usually CT scan pelvic is a best diagnostic tool to diagnose ovarian cancer and in your case adnexa is normal, very less likely the result are incorrect.
Your symptoms could be due to hormonal imbalance and I wouldn't consider ovarian cancer here. Further more ovarian cancer is not a very common cancer.

Hope you found this useful.

Good luck.
