Question: Hi,

I am a registered nurse in Australia... i work in emergency id like to think im highly educated but this is baffling me!

I am having extreme pregnancy symptoms ( or to high progesterone?)

Background;
3 full term pregnancies
All vaginal deliveries

Preg 1; hypermesis for 7 months girl 01"
Preg 2; anamea no real sickness girl 05"
Preg 3 anemic & symptomatic terrible felt like i cpuldn't breath with dizzyness needed iron infusion boy 07"

Preg 4; termination (medical/surgical)

Merina IUD since which caused complications severe abdopain after 2nd device inserted> total 6+ years iv had them (changed of course)

I had Chlamydia + PID at 18 years old i am now 34

Current hx ;

My cycle only started August 16 its anywhere between 22-27 days mainly 24 or 26

Last cycle 7th XXXXXXX

Past 5- 7 days i feel so symptomatic
Hot flushes comes and goes
Sore boobs unusually painful + nipples + heavy big & full
Nauseated terrible
Smells are setting me off
Bloated +++
Constipated +++
So tired ++
Breathless
Feel really yuk & off intermittently

2 weeks ago with cervical "egg white" Abdominal mild cramping both sides but left side x3 short stabs a week ago & right & left dull intermittent cramps mostly about a week ago

I never get left sided abdominal cramping or discomfort whata weird is i also never get both sides going either

Urine tests are negative yet LH is showing pretty much matched levels?

Urine hcg negative (all bhcg urine dont show till 5 weeks on me never have but im also someone who never knew i was pregnant? This time i am so symptomatic & definitely not possible to be further then this cycle along )

Ultrasound 2 weeks ago was perfect no issues but she did suggest hormone testing could be why i am having abnormal periods with pain post iud i have not yet followed this up but hormones during iud were normal

Serum/blood appears positive? Unless the blood is making the line come up ? As not all tests are positive but most?

Is this a sign of progesterone? Or pregnancy cause surely i wouldnt be this symptomatic this fast?

Small town here

Any advise please provide all avenues i should consider

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are due to progesterone effect.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.

I have read your notes thoroughly.
The symptoms you are having now are due to progesterone effect. It is suggestive of premenstrual syndrome. It does not seem to be due to pregnancy. However get a blood pregnancy test done tomorrow to clarify things for yourself.
It is good to know that all your post treatment pap smears so far have been normal.
Your cycles are not irregular. Cycles occurring every 22-27 days are normal. In my opinion,you do not need any hormone tests for the same.
I hope this is helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama
