default
Posted on Wed, 10 May 2017
Question: I went to urgent care about 2 weeks ago and was diagnosed with a uti. i then took cipro for 3 days and it did not go away. i am having an abnormal amount of yellowish discharge and feel a bit of discomfort/pressure. i went back to urgent care on monday and she diagnosed me with BV and gave me a 7 day dose of metronidazole and also swabbed for std's. i'm always careful so i don't believe it is an std but if i am positive for an std, will this antiboitic make it worse? also, how long should it take for the symptoms to go away?

Brief Answer:
Symptoms will decrease in 4-7 days.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The antibiotic that you are taking will not worsen the symptoms of STD. The proper treatment depends on the type of infection that you have.
Usually the symptoms decrease in 4-7 days after starting the proper antibiotic.
I would like to give you some instructions about hygiene. Please keep private parts dry and clean. You can get a prescription for
-1] Lactacyd ( Lactic acid containing) vaginal wash. You can use it daily at bath time,
-2] and for Lactobacillus capsule like Cap VIBACT DS and anti fungal vaginal insertion tablets and local ointment.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
