What Causes Vaginal Spotting While Urinating?

default
Posted on Mon, 18 Jan 2016
Question: I had a regular menstrual cycle that started on Dec 11 and lasted for 5 days. Two days ago, I started experiencing spotting, only when I went to urinate. No pain, no odor. Starting last night The blood became bright red, and I would pass small clots with stringy brown content in the blood. Again, when I go to urinate. I am not bleeding consistently on a pad. This morning the blood has changed color to almost a dark garnet, has increased in the amount, and still has small clots with stringy parts to it. No pain, but I should not be having my period 16 days later. Is it possible this is from fibroids or beginning stages of menopause? I'm 44, soon to be 45 years old. Being it's Sunday my OB office is closed. Plan on calling tomorrow for an appointment, unless advised otherwise.

Brief Answer:
Proper examination and investigations needed to make a diagnosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Spotting in the mid cycle can be due to ovulation( Mittelsmerz bleeding) , local lesions in the cervix or vagina, or can be due to hormonal disturbances occurring in perimenopausal period.Fibroids are unlikely to cause Intermenstrual spotting.
I will suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined internally to rule out any local lesions, get an ultrasound and pap smear done, and get appropriate treatment.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
