What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Taking Plan-B Twice In One Month?

default
Posted on Wed, 16 Sep 2015
Question: I have a question about plan B. My last menstral cycle started on 8/5/2015, on 8/21 my husband and I had sex and our birth control failed. I ended up taking plan B on 8/24/2015. Today 8/28/2015 I started bleeding like a regular period. My period was supposed to start on 9/1/2015. Is this my regular monthly period or just from plan B? I'm so stressed and not sure what to think.

Brief Answer:
it is difficult to say.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to HCM,

I can undrrstand your concerns,

As you told that you had plan B but you started bleeding earlier than your menses date.

Plan B may cause abnormal bleeding or changes in periods.as you are near to your menses date,it is difficult to say that it is withdrawal bleeding or normal menses.

You need not to worry about it.you will have your regular cycles from next month.

As per your expected date, you had sex in safe period and for precaution you took emergency pill too.so chances of pregnancy is less.

Hope it helps.

Feel free to ask further .
Thanks.

Today my period is heavy with clots, so I'm feeling better that it is probably my normal cycle. I am still scared about pregnancy! I don't think I would have this bleeding with pregnancy? I'm sorry to keep bugging you I'm extremely nervous.

Brief Answer:
no chance of pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Its ok. I understand your worries.

Do not worry. There are no chances of pregnancy.
The bleeding indicates that there will be no conception.
You had intercourse in safe period. This also protects you from pregnancy.

You might be having bleeding due to any reason (periods or plan B), but there is no chance of pregnancy.

Take care.

Regards.

My last question would be... Should I count this as my period? My period was supposed to start around September 1st or 2nd. in theory did plan b reset my schedule so my next period should be expected in 27/28 days? Thanks so much for all your help! My husband thinks I'm going crazy :)

Brief Answer: XXXXXXX rhythm will resume in 2-3 months.

Detailed Answer:
This bleeding after Plan B is withdrawal bleeding as the drug contains high levels of hormones.

You may get another period earlier or later than expected in next cycle.

But your normal menstrual rhythm should resume in 2-3 months.

I hope my suggestions have re-assured you and you are relieved.

Kindly close the discussion if you have no more queries. I would be happy to help if you have more doubts.

Thanks.

Thanks for your help! It just scares me because I read on the internet that bleeding after taking plan B doesn't mean you aren't pregnant? Today is the 26th cycle day and I took a first response pregnancy test and it was negative. The reason I'm so worried is that I've had 2 pregnancies that I had hyperemesis. They both ended in miscarriage one at 6 weeks and one at 5. I just can't go through that again. All this worrying is making me have "mock" morning sickness. I hope this explains why I've been so nervous!

I don't know how somebody could bleed heavy and still be pregnant!

Brief Answer:
plan B makes endometrium hostile for implantation.

Detailed Answer:
Bleeding with Plan B means that endometrium has become hostile for embryo to get implanted there.

Conception after Plan B suggests that baby had already implanted from a previous sexual encounter.

Bleeding usually disrupts the early implantation. I should say its unfortunate for those who conceive even after bleeding from Plan B.

I can understand your worries. I absolutely comfortable in answering to all your queries till your are satisfied.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you have more queries.

Take care.
