Question: Dear Dr, I am 31 year old male. I lead a very active life which includes runnng, walking , swimming, cycling for more than 6 days a week. dont smoke, drink very rarely and keep a good balanced diet. From Last year have been experiencing some uneasiness in the chest area and upper apdomen. Have gone through all cardiac tests, ECG (showed Sinus Tachycardia at 106 bpm , Otherwise normal ECG){{Have to mention that while doing the ECG the machine malfunctioned and they had to change wires all over me which left me anxious and stressed out) , Went for TMT ECG which came out normal and negative for Ischemia and normal BP and heartrate response, and the Cardiac Echo was also normal. Also went for Cardiac Enzyme tests in Blood which also came back normal. Can you please advice me if i am in normal cardiac health. ? Thanks

Thanks Dr Anantharamakrishnan for your answer. I have uploaded my reports, Kindly have a look at them. Few questions 1. Why is Sinus Tachychardia, Otherwise normal ECG mentioned. 2. Why is my retrosternum and upper GI uneasiness continuing. It feels like a sharp sensation. Could you please cross check my reports. Thank You very much !Another point to note will be that , i am quite anxious at the hospital, which tends to shoot by heart rate high. Kindly send me your analysis of the reports . Thank You !

Brief Answer: Addressing Anxiety may solve Detailed Answer: Hi Biochemistry Normal ECHO Normal (Trivial Mitral Regurgitation is a normal variant) ECG Normal but for slightly increased resting rate TMT Normal The pain is most likely to be muscular – from chest wall muscle spasm, induced by Anxiety An upper GI endoscopy is advisable to exclude problem of food pipe and stomach Sinus tachycardia is a response to Anxiety – mediated by Sympathetic nervous system Thyroid function needs to be estimated to exclude over activity – another possible cause A small dose of beta blockers can benefit both the anxiety as well as the heart rate… Psychological assessment and assistance will benefit Discuss with your care provider Regards

Thank you Dr. The TSH was also recorded in the blood work which came out to be 2.46 mlU/mL which i guess is also normal. Thanks for your other notings. I do have some anxiety in hospitals , has been there since childhood. But this time in the ECG room they were changing the wires of the machine over my chest, which kind of got me worked up.

Brief Answer: All the best Detailed Answer: Hi Anxiety at seeing medical personnel, equipment or environment is “White Coat” syndrome… Irrespective of the cause, assessment and/or drugs benefit ECG is done by a technician – unlike EHO or TMT which needs the presence of a doctor Good luck
