Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service,

I carefully read your query and here is my advice:

Swelling on both ankles at the same time can be from several conditions. It is good you had an abdominal ultrasound and ruled out problems with the abdominal aorta. On the other hand, an ultrasound of the heart is needed to make sure there are no heart problems causing the symptoms (swelling of the legs and weakness).

It is recommended to also have some blood tests such as:

- Creatinine and electrolytes to check your kidneys function (a urinalysis may be indicated as well)
- ALT, AST, bilirubin, albumin level in the blood to check your liver function
- CBC, ESR, TSH, fT4 to rule out anemia and thyroid problems.
- sugar levels and lipids in blood as a general check

These are basic tests that the doctor may order to do a general check of your health and investigate for possible causes of your symptoms. According to the results of these tests, the doctor may decide on further management or other tests that may be needed.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Kind regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
