What Causes Swelling In The Tongue And Ear Pain After Cerumen Impaction Removal?

Question: Hi, I went to an ear specialist yesterday and had a large amount of wax removed. She said their was no infection; however, I have now been experiencing enlarged tongue, difficult speaking and I still have pain in my ear, sometimes sharp and stabbing, and it still hurts to the touch. Ideas? I also have had vaginal itching and discharge with occasional sharp pains in my right lower abdomen. I promise I'm not a hypochondriac, just in pain and haven't been able to sleep in a few days.

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms

Removal of wax may sometimes be associated with discomfort and vague pain . It is likely to resolve and there is no cause for concern.

Difficulty in speaking , enlarged tongue could be due to prodromal of symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection. Sipping Honey will help relive the symptoms, also the act of swallowing with sipping of honey will help relive ear ache.

Vaginal itching and pain in a abdomen could be due to many causes, it would be very helpful if you could provide me following additional information

1. Since how long have you been experiencing abdominal pain, what is the exact location of pain ?

2. Do you associated symptoms like loss of appetite / vomiting ?

3. Where is location of itching exactly? Is there any skin lesion or darkening of skin, providing clinical photograph will be helpful

In the meantime analgesic like Ibuprofen and antihistamine like Cetirizine 10 mg once daily at bedtime will help relieve itching

Awaiting your response

Take Care

The abdominal pain has been occuring a couple times a day for just over a week. It is about an inch over the middle ofmy right leg (always on the same side). The pain is intense and sharp, but usually subsides quickly. The itching has lasted 5 days and is on the outer skin of the vagina. There is no burning and no white fluid, which I usually get with yeast infection. No bumps, just looks red and irritated.

Brief Answer:
itching is possibly due to dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam

thanks for getting back to me. The pain in leg is likely to be musculosketal pain . Vitamin D deficiency could also contribute to it.

I would suggest the following

1. Oral Vitamin D and calcium supplement

2. Oral Analgesic like Ibuprofen will be be helpful

3. Local massage with oil

The itching over the outer skin of vagina is likely to be due to mild dermatitis . Wearing non cotton panties, inadequate rinsing of undergarments with water ( presence of residual detergent ) could contribute to it

I would suggest the following

1. Wear only cotton panties

2. Local application of mild steroid ointment , followed by application of calamine lotion will be helpful;

3. Antihistamine like Cetirizine will reduce the itching

Take Care

Shobha
