What Causes Swelling In The Legs While On Trandate?

Question: Hi ....my sister has high bloodpressure and her dr prescripted trandate , hydralazine and lasix but after she takes them her legs feel weak and tired and swollen. Will those do that?

From the other hand trandate as a betablocker can cause a low hear rate and a low physical performance.

I recommend discussing with her attending physician on the possibility of stopping hydralazine and switch to another antihypertensive drug like an ACE inhibitor (lisinopril, ramipril) or an ARB (valsartan, telmisartan).

I would also advise you to closely monitor her heart rate. Trandate dose may need to be reduced based on her heart rate, if she is having a low heart rate (bradycardia could cause fatigue and weakness).

You should discuss with her attending physician on the above issues.
