Question: I am 48 years of age have a history of GERD for which I take Pantaprazole when the symptoms get to bad but normally take zantac daily. I exercise regularly am only 72 kgs 17% body fat recently started with a fluttering sensation in the area of my XXXXXXX and also slightly to the left side. had an EKG done which came back normal had Lipid panel done and it was perfect also went for an ultra sound of the aorta in my abdomen which was normal. No pain as such but feel like burping all the time and the sensation comes and goes during the day but get the symptoms every day now for 10 days so far. Any ideas what is causing it as it started suddenly and what if any treatments are available. My GP said he would send me for another endoscopy if the symptoms don't subside.

Brief Answer:
Cap omeprazole, high fiber diet,.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome
I have gone through your query.
As you have mentioned that your investigation is normal, your symptom might be due to GERD.
Only medication will not be sufficient to address the symptoms of GERD, few non pharmological measures need to be followed.
Presently I would suggest you to avoid spicy food, alcohol, and smoking.

Eat bland diet, eat diet rich in fibres diet, avoid meat for few days, do not lie down immediately after food, walk for 15 minutes post food. Avoid eating heavy meals instead go for small frequent meals. Avoid a lifestyle in which you sit in one place for long. Make sure you move around and have at least a 30-minute walk as part of your daily exercise
I would suggest you to take capsule omeprazole 20 mg twice daily 1/2 hour before food for 1 week. You can take over the counter antacid three times a day. You can take probiotic like sporolac or ecobion, and curd which will be beneficial. Kindly follow the measures for 15 days, your symptom should subside.

I would have suggested you to follow this for a week, and observe for any improvement, and if it persists you can go for endoscopy.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
