What Causes Stomach Bloating And Intestinal Discomfort While Suffering From Hiatal Hernia?

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Aug 2015
Question: Get gas, bloating, intestinal discomfort (also around breastbone), nausea and vomiting and diahreaa frequently after eating out at restaurants. Never happens when I eat at home. Dosen't seem to matter whether I eat larger ( a dinner) or smaller (soup and sandwich). What could be causing this? I have had a hiatal hernia and acid reflux for several years. Could it be this? Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Intolerance to something in the outside food /beverages.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and noted your history related to the medicines tried, the symptoms, Hiatal hernia, acid reflux, Esophagitis and so on.

Your classical history of '' Never happens when I eat at home'' is a straight indication that there is something in the outside food that is not being tolerated by your intestinal system.

Hence the suggested treatment is:
Never to take the foods and beverages that cause such a problem.
Continue the medicines till you get a relief.
Hiatal hernia may not cause such problems as you have explained. It can cause acid reflux and is treatable with the medicines you are already taking.

Once the instigating or irritating factors are nullified, I hope you will be totally alright and may not need much of the treatment.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for relevant queries if you need to or if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

Checked what I ate at restaurants when I had problems afterward. One item that keeps appearing is onions. Previously got some discomfort from these, but only when fried. Will try deleting them from diet and see if that helps. Will also keep tabs on any future meals where I have problems to see if there are other items. Thanks.
