What Causes Sticky Odourless White Vaginal Discharge After A Full Hysterectomy?

Question: My girlfriend and I have been together for the past 5 months.She had a full hysterectomy over 10 years ago. She was not sexually active for 2 years prior to our relationship. Initially there was discomfort the first time we had sex but felt it was due to inactivity. She began using Estrace 3 months ago to aid with dryness. Recently she has developed a white, sticky, and odorless discharge and is concerned that it is possibly a STD. We both are monogamous and are seeking opinions. Please help

You had not mentioned the age of your girl friend and whether she is a Diabetic or not?
Sticky odorless white discharge while on the drug Estrace could possibly be due to an yeast infection. Yeast infection could be exaggerated in the presence of hormonal drugs. It is not necessarily acquired through sexual transmission by an individual but can be transmitted to the other person through sex contact.This can be treated easily with anti-fungal antibiotics in adequate dosages for adequate duration. Estrogen itself increase the vaginal normal discharge but would not be sticky.

I am the girlfriend. I am 56 years old and not diabetic. Along with the discharge I am having some mild itching at times and a burning sensation in my vaginal area. I have had yeast infections before and the discharge that I have now is not as thick as I remember. Thank you for your response as I am concerned about these symptoms.

Itching and burning sensation over vagina following scratching is once again common with Yeast infection and confirms the same.
The discharge in yeast infection may range anything from watery, curdy to sticky white discharge according to the extend of the infection.
