Brief Answer:
Cause of bad taste

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. the bad taste in your mouth can be due to multiple causes

- Use of Cozaat or Losartan and Singulair (montelukast) - It is a known cause of altered taste. It can cause metallic taste. To control it, either reduce the dose or stop it after consulting doctor.

- Viral fever - Any systemic illness alter the taste perception due to release of inflammatory cytokines in body and its affect on taste sensations.
If it is the cause, it will be relieved after subsidence of fever.

- Dryness of mouth due to poor intake of liquids

To treat it, you can follow few tips

- If you have any of these habits - Smoking, alcohol, and suboptimal oral hygiene, it might also contribute to taste disturbance. These should be controlled.

- If it is not possible to discontinue or switch an offending medication, scheduling doses to avoid dysgeusia at mealtimes can be considered.

- Monitoring weight and early referral for dietary consultation can help to minimize effects on nutritional status. Artificial saliva or sugar-free candy can help in cases of dry mouth and allow patients to avoid excessive fluid consumption.

Hope it will help you. If still in doubt, do let me know.
Thanks. Take care.
