Brief Answer:
Yes, colon cleanses can cause severe gastrointestinal symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
I am sorry you are having these problems after the colon cleanse. But it happens not uncommonly. Cramping, bloating, nausea and vomiting do happen from these. Also, there can be electrolyte alterations and dehydration sometimes too.

You have probably figured out to stop the cleanse protocol at this point.

Now to try to get things back to normal:
I don't know if you are having any constipation or diarrhea from the veggie cleanse. If you are constipated and getting a lot of gas but it isn't moving thru, try a gentle stool softener like dulcolax.

It should start to get better in the next few days, BUT, if the pain is worsening, or you are running a fever, you should go to an ER. They can better see what is going on.

I don't know if your cleanse involved a rectally infused colonic or not, but the large amount of fluid from these can cause distention of the colon and even perforation.

I don't mean to scare you and this should get better soon. If you feel gassy from it, you can try some simethicone such as Gas X.

But again, if pain is severe and worsening, go get checked out.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information or clarification.
