Dear XXXX, Hi
The possibility of secondary deposits (metastases) should be ruled out first by appropriate investigations like CT or MRI scans. For severe pain opioids like hydorcodone or Morphine are usually prescribed.

I had six lumps removed and was told they are fibroadipose with inflammitary macrophages. Can these ever be cancerous or turn cancerous if not removed?

Brief Answer:
Metastasis suspected.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, welcome to HCM,
Thanks for writing to us with your health query. I have gone through your query and understand your related concerns.

Fibroadenoma doesnot seem to be metastatic carcinoma but presence of inflammatory cell does point towards the malignant nature of Tumor. Metastasis causes bone pain which is very tense to touch .

In case of muscle pain you will be having pain on movement of that particular part of body.

Can you differentiate the two types of pain and tell me what type of pain you are experiencing ?
If mets are suspected then you have to undergo PET scan .

Regards
Dr Manisha Jain.

The pain is definitely on my ribs not my muscles . It is extremely tender to touch the initial biopsy report said fibroadipose with inflammitary macrophages but my surgeon said it is nothing. I am trying to understand if left in situ if they could become cancerous or if they never turn to cancer? I am her 2+++ er+ pr+

Brief Answer:
Visit your doctor at the earliest

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam, usually fibroadenomas are not malignant at all and inflammatory macrophages in the tumor on biopsy are reactionary and thus resolve after surgery.
But since you are HER positive chances of breast cancer increase slightly but still not very high.
This extreme pain definitely needs evaluation and should not be neglected so visit your doctor at the earliest as taking simple and even higher painkillers will not answer any problem.
Symptomatic relief is not the agenda and thus a proper diagnosis is a must which needs evaluation via examination and imaging.
All the best.

My docto has taken six of these lumps out two weeks ago but says they are nothing and never turn cancerous. I still have others he refused to remove. The pain is severe but i am on oramorph and mst already so cant get any more pain relief. My biggest concern is the remaining fibroadenomas which are inflammed but not malignant can at some point turn into new cancer cells as they are on my rib just below my mastectomy scar. My consultant just says im worrying about nothing and just to believe him when he says i wont get my cancer back. The original breast cancer was feb last year and i have 3 herceptins left. I am very high risk as more than 10 family members have died from breast cancer and i am not convinced when my surgeon says i have nothing and the pain will go away. I just need to know if the other fibroadenomas that are inflammed can turn cancerous or not please?

Brief Answer:
Evaluation is a must

Detailed Answer:
I understand your anxiety Mam and have been repeatedly telling you that fibroadenomas are not cancerous at all but if there is already a cancerous change around that area anew apart from fibroadenoma then it will go un-noticed and thus can present with lump growing at a fast pace or directly as metastasis.
So in my opinion if your pain is not relieved on such a nice pain killer and if you are not taking any radiotherapy of chemotherapy then radiological assessment via PET scan is a must owing to the family history.
Discuss your anxiety with the doctor and decide accordingly.
Overinvestigation is never a problem most of the times in a high risk hut well affording patient.
All the best from my side dear.
But in case you have any question any day in your minx please feel free to ask.
